ABOUT THE ARTISANS
Kalavilasa has adopted a weaving cluster in a remote village in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, located about 550km (340 miles) from its capital Bhopal. 12 weavers from underserved communities are engaged in weaving the dhurries on punja looms. They are promised work through the year, and typically weave for 300 days in a year. Using cotton punja dhurries as fabric, the cushion covers are stitched by a women's self-help-group.
